August 2 and August 3, 1974
Both partial shows

Cassette (from Jan Lohmann Collection)>Cassette>Creative>CDWave to split tracks>FLAC

THANKS TO FREEKJAZZ (Jason) for supplying these tapes. There will be 3 more early 70's Miles shows coming soon (and maybe more if freekjazz is happy with these).

Audience tape, unknown gen. Sound samples provided. Jan L. has many sources and so it is safe to presume this is the best circulating. If you have a better source, now would be the time to share! :) Despite it's limitations, if you are reading this you already know how hard it is to get Miles from this era!

Musicians:
Miles Davis, tpt, organ
Sonny Fortune: ss, as, fl
Dominique Gaumont, Gtr (8/2 only, not on 8/3)
Pete Cosey: Guitar, perc
Reggie Lucas: Guitar
Michael Henderson: Bass
Al Foster: Drums
James Mtume Forman: conga, perc

Track listing is unknown. I would appreciate help in this area. According to the Miles Ahead [plosin] database, the setlists for these shows are:

8/2
Right off (incomplete) 12:27
For Dave 17:48

8/3
Funk [prelude] pt. 1 19:35
Untitled 11:32
Calypso Frelimo 24:58
Maiysha 10:10

That being said, these don't seem to match up exactly. Remember, this IS 1974 Miles, so sometimes it is really hard to tell if the song is over or a solo just ended or what exactly is going on. The tracks appear to start in progress.

I thought about leaving each show as one 45ish minute track, but instead divided them where it sounded appropriate as follows:

8/02/74
Track 01 - part 1 (short blank space on tape edited out)
Track 02 - part 2
Track 03 - part 3
Track 04 - part 4 (incomplete)

8/03/74

Track 05 - Part 1
Track 06 - Part 2
Track 07 - Part 3 (incomplete)

I will update the info file on the torrent as titles become known, but I do not think I will go back to the wav files and create new tracks. Tracks seem to be in logical places for listening and some are based on gaps in the tape, applause or seeming transitions.
