MILES DAVIS - COMPLETE THURSDAY 1970 January 8, 2014 3:18 pm MILES DAVIS Complete Thursday 1970 [no label, 2CD] Live at Fillmore East Auditorium, New York; June 18, 1970. Excellent soundboard? According to All Music Guides Tom Jurek, when Miles Davis At Fillmore 1970 was released, this was how it was packaged: This double-LP/CD package puts together selections from each night [June 17-20], without regard for repetition. Its fine that there are numerous performances of certain tunes: the problem is that, although the music is compelling, its schizophrenic because there are no full performances on the final release; they were all edited severely (as was standard practice by Teo Macero and Davis). To compound this, when the music from Friday night actually collects some of the music from Thursday night - different segments are edited within tunes, the grooves dont necessarily match and for this set (unlike many other live Miles dates) just as a composition starts to gel, it segues into another rather abruptly. Finally, the elusive Complete Thursday show/s (?) at the Fillmore East in 1970. Click on the respective links for Complete Wednesday and Complete Friday. Thanks to hearbeat for sharing the tracks at The Traders Den. Unfortunately, there were no notes that accompanied this set. Its also curious why there appeared to be two sets as, according to www.plosin.com, the Septet played a 45-60 minute set each night.
