Original folder name: Miles Davis1982-04-03 Amherst, MA (SBEs corrected) --- info.txt Miles Davis Fine Arts Center University of Massachusetts Amherst, Mass. U.S.A. April 3, 1982 performance quality: B+ recording quality: B (maybe a B+, pretty good sound) source: 1st generation audience tape runtime: disc 1 (tracks 1-4) 46:26 disc 2 (tracks 5-7) 42:06 comments: A pretty nice recording (my guess is a Sony D-6 made this recording) and apparently a whole show. I'm not sure if there are 2 sets in here (there were in both the April Boston shows). Track 4 has a fadeout at the end, track 5 a fade in, didn't notice anything missing. I think this is one of the better 81-82 era shows I've heard, Miles, Stern and Foster all sound very solid here, there's not much crowd noise to hear (despite a packed house), whoever made this recording had a good seat. I don't recall who made it. I got this in a trade about 25 years ago. If you like Miles Davis of this period I think you will enjoy this show alot. There may have been more than one show at this location, the sound in there is good. I've heard about 10 of them and this is one of my favorites (Hollywood and San Fran. 1981 are also very good shows, Hollywood was upped here on the dime recently by pencilgeek in a very nice sound quality (naka. master). I've fattened my Miles collection alot here on dime, and have a couple of offerings that Miles fans will like to hear, all from the 81 and 82 era including a couple of masters to come later. For starters I have this one which is comparable in sound to the master ones and may be the best show of the 3 I have to share. I know, Miles Davis is hardly a 3 torrent player (maybe 30 would be fair) but that's all I have so far (that could change, still checking some stuff for quality) and this seems a good starting point for glasnostrd19 Miles Davis uploads. I will have alot more torrents of Miles' former alums (2 especially, McCoy Tyner and John McLaughlin) than of Miles. Nothing personal or musical about that. Miles Davis is a player with NO compare. I just have better recordings to share of them, most not heard before, and there are a few to share of those. Do not sell this recording. Trade freely and losslessly. |
