This is the second concert. According to Ian Carr, Miles played magnificently that night, but the Hammersmith Ode0n was only at seventy-five percent capacity, and the audience gave him a lukewarm reception. Many people were seen to walk out. The following bands shared the stage: Miles Davis Quintet, Mary Lou Williams Trio, and Jon Hendricks with the Reg Powell Trio. After the concert, Miles met Paul Buckmaster, who would be involved in the arranging and recording of "On The Corner" in 1972. Please keep in mind that this is an audience recording from the 1960's. The first two minutes are bad, but the sound quality gets better after that. There is a small glitch caused by an audio cassette flip between "It's About That Time" and "I Fall In Love Too Easily". According to Enrico (Merlin), there is a cut in the middle of "Sanctuary". I am not sure if I hear a cut here, but it could be that Enrico's version is not complete (03:07). Lohmann has 04:03 there and Losin 03:00. |
